CHRISTMAS, A VINTAGE SKIRT, A CHRISTENING GOWN IS A PETTICOAT...and WHITE WINE IN THE SUN...

CHRISTMAS...Summer, holidays, bare feet,
gardenias, mangoes, fruit cake,
cicadas, family, road trips, nectarines,
apricots, frangipani, reading books, roses, swimming, cherries,
early morning light, long evenings...

My Grandmother sent my Mum this blue and white
Marks and Spencers polished cotton skirt
before I was born. If only this quality of fabric
were available today...

The white petticoat I'm wearing was my cousin's
christening gown. I can't remember the details
of how it came to be in our house but I do remember
that it wasn't wanted anymore and that I saw potential in the long cotton lace (a scissor chop, quick sew and some elastic and a petticoat was born!)

My cousin is about 70 now and I admit I choose where I wear the delicate garment to preserve its longevity...

This blouse had my name on it the moment I saw it in a boutique
in Berry on the south coast with (the other) Liz a few
years ago.

Christmas coincides with the end of the school year in Australia and all the
concerts, graduations and presentation ceremonies that go with it.
Many companies close for annual summer holidays and it sometimes
seems like a dash for the finishing line to fit everything in...along with
Christmas functions, shopping, preparations for family visits and
packing for travel over long distances in warm to hot weather (but dressing is easy!)

Thank you for visiting Fabulous Ageing
this year. I'm going to take a break from
the blogging world to rebalance and rejuvenate...to just BE...
