JACARANDA SILK

Ephemeral carpet...

...of Jacaranda blossoms...
delicate bells festoon every surface on which they fall...
Purple haze beauty...

This jacaranda in our front garden has grown from a
scrawny, unloved specimen to a strong tree which flowers
 every Spring...

My jacaranda Vietnamese silk began life as a long sleeved jacket, partner to loose purple pants... the pants ripped their way out of my wardrobe many years ago after an altercation with a bleacher in the Bellingen Park grandstand (seen in my last post) - it was the stage for a performance of the acapella choir I sang with...

No ripping for the sleeves - they were deliberately cut off and a new,
 cooler top was created...
Perfect for tossing blossoms skyward...

I find jacaranda season intoxicating.

Jacaranda pants rescued from someone's throw away pile...they needed a snip, a tuck or two and a patch from an old dress...
Earrings from a pre-loved market stall...

    1. Thank you, Vix. Purple is rich, isn't it? And I certainly feel rich wearing it and playing in jacaranda blossoms. So good that your heart sings with the richness! xx

    1. Hi Jill, Yes they're glorious, not a tree I grew up with (southern S.A.) and I couldn't resist them starring in a blog. xx

    1. Yes, it's a great name, isn't it? It's naïve to tropical and south tropical regions of Central South America, Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica and the Bahamas (thank you Wikipedia!) but has obviously found its way to other similar climates around the world. Thanks for your beautiful comments, Suzanne. xx
