BYE BYE WINTER

Back home in Bello, I haven't been able to find out what this old building was originally but when I moved here it housed a vetinary clinic. Now it is
very quiet - except when J.B. and I do a photo shoot in the alley ( I also ride La Vie through here when I've been at Gelato Bar, a short cut to the back lane).
I'm actually wearing clothes which were all purchased brand new! BUT...there are stories...I fell in love with the Italian wool shawl when I stopped at a little boutique in the Adelaide Hills in the early 70's. It was expensive but I knew I would have it forever. 40 plus years later... The long mohair jumper/short dress is also from the same period as the shawl - a Carla Zampatti

My Metalicus skirt (worn previously in Spontaneous Intuition) has a few  decades to catch up.

I love Bellingen Gelato Bar  and its "retroness".
Their gelato is sublime...

Remember to go by
the ATM on the way...

Their staff are young and fabulous - the most gorgeous, creative dressers...

Beautiful Hanna in her "Russian" hat, (her outfit is a dress which she found online) makes me wonderful coffees...

The former entrance to the Vetinary clinic, now the back
wall of the Gelato Bar courtyard.

As we speed towards the Spring equinox in my part of the world,
the birds are singing earlier in the morning, the sun is setting later
behind the mountains, the firewood is being stored...
the air is fragrant...
The days of wearing boots and early morning scarves are numbered...
BYE BYE WINTER...

  1. Okay, ba-bye! How exciting to welcome spring for you, just as we are sinking, rather comfortably, into autumn. I have several Metalicus pieces, which I adore, purchased at their sample sales. And I'm glad you've been so content with your quality pieces through the years. Great photos and outfit!

I was just reading about your books too. Gaaa, I think that is so wonderful that you have put all that creative energy into words. !!!

  2. I know, Spring!! I was so excited to see the first hints of wisteria coming out yesterday on an early morning walk. I love the way it winds and climbs, all purple and beautiful. Metalicus is great stuff - sample sales, I don't know if we have such things here! Thanks so much for taking time to browse through my books page. Yes, I'm a creative tragic, (just like you are), don't know any other way to live. Enjoy the leaves turning... xx

  3. Spring has been in the air down here this week too , the sun is shining , all the flowers are blooming . I am with you on enjoying favourite clothing for many years. Love that Carla Zampatti dress, I have a few of her things mostly fond at recycling stores, her fabrics are always wonderful. Enjoy all that Spring brings.

    1. Thank you, Jill. Yes, Spring has arrived in your part of the world too. I saw you in that gorgeous magnolia! Your spring is beautiful down south in Tassie, more of a European feel to it - more gentle, longer lasting... I'd like to find a few Carla Z. clothes at Op Shops! (By the way, do you call them Op Shops in Launceston?) Enjoy all those blooms. xx

  4. I love this wonderful dress on you (I like how you layered it over the skirt, too). It's so cool to have items from our travels! Spring for you, autumn in the air for us - I love these changeover seasons the best!

    1. Thank you, Sheila. It's fabulous, you going into Autumn, we into Spring and sharing the change in seasons. I agree, these changeover seasons are the best - summer lingering as the leaves turn and the air cools; winter chill hanging on as the leaves appear green on the trees... xx

  5. How glamorous you look in that quirky little alleyway. I love how you've tied your scarf, you gypsy queen!
The cafe bar looks like just how I like places to be decorated, full of eclectic pieces and visible humour. Your barista looks fabulous, I love her hat.
I'm glad your Spring is in sight but sad if that means the end of Summer for us Northern Europeans. I'm not a Winter person. xxx

    1. Thank you Vix. I do like a bit of gypsy! You would love Gelato Bar, I can see you there (when you come to Oz to visit!). I am looking forward to visiting your Winter festivals with you and sharing your stories and your fabulous creations. xx

  6. I love how you've put this outfit together. It's stylish yet looks comfortable too. My husband would like this ice cream parlour as he spends all of our holidays searching for the perfect ice cream! Seemingly it's that very white vanilla kind which exists in his imagination only! Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a wonderful weekend x

    1. Thank you, Anna. I'm in Brisbane this weekend for my grand daughter's Musical theatre concert! We also had a get together at my brother's lovely home with my elderly parents who are having a holiday away from the cold and wet. You must bring your husband to Bellingen for Gelato one day! xx

  10. Thank you, Patti. I do appreciate you visiting my blog. And yes, cash required at Gelato Bar!! I raided the cash bowl that J.B. drops his change in just this morning prior to getting on La Vie and cycling over for a coffee and some writing. Hope you're having a beautiful week. xx

  11. Oh, that sign is just fantastic. While it can, for even the most die hard of vintage fans, feel as natural as breathing in air to reach for plastic when paying these days, it's also wonderfully refreshing at times to be reminded of how financial transactions were frequently conducted day in and day out until very, very recently in the course of human history.

Thank you for taking us along for coffee (and some wonderful outfits all around) with you, dear Elizabeth -and many heartfelt thanks as well for your splendidly lovely recent blog comments while we were on holiday.

    Oodles of hugs,
    ♥ Jessica

    1. It is fantastic, isn't it? (the sign) Truly in keeping with the whole theme of Gelato Bar Bello which will continue to feature in my blog - hot weather coming, ice cold gelato! - and because it is filled with so much fabulous 50's memorabilia. You would look just amazing wandering in wearing one of your gorgeous vintage dresses. Oodles of hugs to you, too, Jessica. Have a beautiful weekend. xx

  12. What a great little spot! I adore places like this.

I'm always envious of women that can wear a scarf tied pirate style. You carry it off perfectly.

Things are finally starting to cool down here after a very hot and humid summer. Although I adore fall I hate what lays in wait just behind it...my nemisis...winter.

    bisous

    1. Thank you, Suzanne. Where is Jack Sparrow??!!! I'm looking forward to our "exchange" of summer and winter and what clothes, accessories and activities feature in our blogs. It's so wonderful that because of technology we can share each other's stories and seasons. Enjoy the leaves turning and falling (and wearing lots of COLOUR! as you love to do). Happy Weekend, xx

  14. Your scarf is tied in such a creative way, I really love the bright red roll at the back and the fun print. It also adds another dimension to your mixed textures and layers. Thank you for sharing with Hat Attack!

  15. Thank you, Judith, for taking the time to respond to my posting on Hat Attack - and for accepting headwear that is not technically a "hat" - because I love headdresses that are not always technically "hats". Thanks again for having me on Hat Attack. Elizabeth. xx
